Fundamentals of Event Safety Online (15 Sep 2026)

Promoting a "safety-first" culture in the events industry across Africa

Across Africa, various Acts, Regulations, Standards and Bylaws require every event to appoint a competent person to act as an event safety officer to ensure the safety of staff, performers and spectators.

Severe penalties also apply if an event safety officer is not appointed, or if the appointed person is deemed incompetent following a review of their qualifications and work experience.

This eight-week online course provides information and insight into the role and responsibilities of an event safety officer.

Presented as a series of workshops led by subject matter experts, this course provides the information you need to meet your legal requirements and create a safe event.

By using real-life examples, you’ll learn how to instantly identify hazards that could cause harm and create event safety documentation that includes organisational details, crowd management plans, and emergency procedures.

SACIA Golf Day 2026 (13 Oct 2026)

Enjoy a day in the sun with friends and colleagues

Join us on 13 October 2025 for the annual SACIA Golf Day and prize-giving dinner. It's a four-ball tournament followed by a prize-giving dinner.

There's a shotgun start at 12h00 with a floating trophy awarded to the winning team.

We'll also have some "fun" prizes for those of us who are not chasing the silverware:

Closest to the pin (on one of the par-3 holes)

Hole in one (we could have more than one winner – I think we had two “holes in one” during our 2023 tournament)

Team with the most putts

Team with the worst score

Team with the most lost balls

Mishap of the day (Tom Crosswell managed to fall into a water hazard at our 2023 event and in 2024, an unnamed golfer took out a hadeda with his tee shot on the first hole)
