Event Safety Summit

SACIA’s Event Safety Summit brings together professionals from the entertainment, sports, and corporate event industries to discuss all aspects of safety, security, and health at live events. Featuring a diverse lineup of presentations, panels, and workshops, the Summit provides attendees with actionable insights, fosters collaboration among like-minded professionals, and inspires a renewed commitment to prioritising safety in all aspects of the events and entertainment industry.

Keynote speaker: Minister Gayton Mackenzie

It is with great honour that we welcome our keynote speaker for this year's Event Safety Summit, the Honourable Minister Gayton McKenzie. A prominent figure in South African politics and a leader known for his decisive and hands-on approach to public service and community safety, Minister McKenzie brings a unique and invaluable perspective to our gathering. From his impactful tenure as the Mayor of the Central Karoo District, where he tackled complex civic challenges head-on, to his current influential role as Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture, his commitment to creating secure and orderly environments is well-documented. During the Summit, he will share his insights on leadership, risk management, and the imperative of a safety-first culture in ensuring the success and security of public gatherings.

Who should attend?

The objective of the Event Safety Summit is to bring together every function required to deliver safe events, so we can share knowledge and learn from one another. This is a conference for:

  • Local authorities and EMS service providers (medical, fire, etc)
  • Service providers, including access control, waste and sanitation
  • Environmental Health and Disaster Management Officers
  • Ticketing companies
  • Safety and security service providers
  • Venue and set operators
  • Event organisers, covering business, sport and entertainment events
  • Filmmakers, producers, broadcasters, entertainers and anyone engaged in the business of professional entertainment.
  • Academics and educators working in tourism, hospitality and event management

Event Safety Networking dinner:

Join us at the New Orleans Cocktail Bar and Grill for a networking dinner on Tuesday, 12 August. We’ll combine great entertainment with great food in an evening that celebrates the achievements of our members. We’ll also award designation certificates to our newest members, recognising their commitment to safety in an events environment. Tickets for the dinner are available at this link.
Cost of R575 includes a welcome drink, starter, main course and dessert. All subsequent beverages are for patrons own account.


Cost: Registration fee for SACIA members (and members of supporting Associations) is R2,750 incl VAT  

Registration fee for non-SACIA members is R3,750. Incl VAT

Supporting Associations and CPD

Members of supporting associations are entitled to participate at the SACIA member price, but will need to enter a discount code provided by the association. Designated members of SACIA, SAIOSH and the Disaster Management Institute of South Africa can also claim CPD points for their participation.
