Event Safety
SACIA awards two designations to industry practitioners working in event safety. To receive a designation, candidates must write an online multiple-choice exam and provide a Portfolio of Evidence supporting their claim of competence. They also require several year’s professional experience. These examinations are conducted by the SACIA Certification Council, which guides and administer all aspects of our certification programme. The tests are written online at a time and place convenient to the individual member. The exam questions are constantly under review and improvement, utilising subject matter experts under the guidance of professional exam development experts.
Individuals wanting to earn a designation in event safety are assessed on their understanding and application of safety standards and legislation, including SANS10366, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, the South African Sport and Recreational Events Act, the Mass Gatherings Act, as well as local government regulations and bylaws relating to event safety.
