  SACIA's Event Safety Summit brings together professionals from across the entertainment, sports, and corporate event industries to discuss all aspects of safety, security, and health at live events. Featuring a diverse line-up of presentations, panels, and workshops the Summit provides attendees with actionable insights, fosters collaboration among like-minded professionals, and inspires a renewed commitment to prioritizing safety in the events industry.

  Who should attend? The objective of the Event Safety Summit is to bring together every function required to deliver safe events, so we can share knowledge and learn from one another. This is a conference for: Local authorities and EMS service providers (medical, fire, etc) Service providers, including access control, waste and sanitation Environmental Health and Disaster Management Officers Ticketing companies Safety and security service providers Venue and set operators Event organisers, covering business, sport and entertainment events Filmmakers, producers, broadcasters, entertainers and anyone engaged in the business of professional entertainment. Academics and educators working in tourism, hospitality and event management At the 2025 conference, there will be many opportunities for informal networking and socialising, establishing connections, and meeting potential new clients across the two days. Overnight accommodation If you are planning to stay overnight for the conference,  there are several options available to you.   Join us at the New Orleans Cocktail Bar and Grill for a networking dinner on Tuesday, 12 August. We’ll combine great entertainment with great food in an evening that celebrates the achievements of our members. We’ll also award designation certificates to our newest members, recognising their commitment to safety in an events environment.

  Individuals applying for a professional designation in event safety need to present their Portfolio of Evidence to an assessment panel that is convened for the last Tuesday of the month.

  The Portfolio of Evidence needs to include:

  1. A signed copy of the SACIA Code of Professional Conduct
     
  2. Certified copy of ID document
  3. Certified copy of highest academic qualification (verified by SAQA if foreign qualification)
  4. Two testimonial letters from recognised industry professionals supporting your claim of competence as an event safety practitioner.
  5. Detailed CV demonstrating relevant work experience as an event safety officer
  6. Portfolio of Evidence including a Risk Assessment and an Event Safety Plan for a low-risk event as described in chapter 2 of the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events Act (SASREA)
  7. Any other documentation supporting your claim of competence

  Enjoy a day in the sun with friends and colleagues

  Join us on 14 October 2025 for the annual SACIA Golf Day and prize-giving dinner. It's a four-ball tournament followed by a prize-giving dinner.

  This year we are using the event to help raise funds for the SABC Pioneer's celebration, marking 50 years of television broadcasting in South Africa.
  There's a shotgun start at 12h00 with a floating trophy awarded to the winning team.

  We'll also have some "fun" prizes for those of us who are not chasing the silverware:

  • Closest to the pin (on one of the par-3 holes)
  • Hole in one (we could have more than one winner – I think we had two “holes in one” during our 2023 tournament)
  • Team with the most putts
  • Team with the worst score
  • Team with the most lost balls
  • Mishap of the day (Tom Crosswell managed to fall into a water hazard at our 2023 event and last year, an unnamed golfer took out a hadeda with his tee shot on the first hole)
